When it comes to choosing for textures for your new or remodeled home, it’s important to take numerous factors into consideration, including the pros and cons of different floor textures. Your Austin custom home builder such as Dearth Design Construction will ask you about the style you’re trying to achieve, whether or not to follow a design team, and most importantly, cost.
Home Design: Floor Texture Styles
When it comes to choosing a floor texture, style is important. For your custom home design, for example, do you want wood, linoleum, tiles, or carpeting? If you choose carpet, be prepared to also determine styles and textures. Color is also important in designing the overall theme of your home. When it comes to hardwood floors, the right color stain, style, and width of wood planking is also important in creating a subtle yet focused area of your home. Tile flooring options provide a wide range of ceramic styles, colors, and sizes. The best way to choose floor textures for your home is to know your options. Samples or photographs of flooring options are the best way to choose.
Pros and Cons of Floor Textures
As with anything, especially in home construction, there are pros and cons in making one choice over another. The same goes for the pros and cons of different floor textures. Talk to your Austin custom builders about them. For example, you may prefer carpet, but cleaning and upkeep may be more time intensive than a tile or hardwood floor. Conversely, hardwood flooring may also show faster signs of wear and tear than carpeting. Ceramic tile is durable and easy to maintain and upkeep, but chips and scratches may be harder to deal with. When choosing floor textures, it’s also important to research the pros and cons of each style.
About Home Floor Design Themes
Do you want the same type of flooring throughout your home or do you want to mix it up a bit? For example, ceramic tile in the kitchen and dining room offers easy cleaning and durability, but you may want carpeting for a bedroom, or even hardwood flooring for your living room. The style of your home may also help you determine a floor design theme. For example, a Spanish-style Austin custom home may look good with ceramic tile flooring, while a ranch-style may look better with wood flooring. Keep themes in mind when determining floor textures.
Cost of Floor Textures
Costs are important when determining the type of flooring for your new home. Costs for tile, hardwood, and carpeting depend on the style you choose. When choosing a floor texture, keep in mind the cost of supplies as well as installation costs and services. Also keep in mind the cost for upkeep and maintenance of your flooring.
As you can see, choosing the best floor textures for your new or remodeled Austin home is not as easy of a decision as you might think. Talk to your Dearth Design Construction contractor, about flooring options when it comes to choosing flooring and floor textures. Take your time with this decision, as once a floor is laid down, it’s not very easy to change it.

A Custom Home Builder Needs a Vision
Whether you’re building in Texas or in New Hampshire, home builders need a plan. Austin home design ranges between a variety of styles. When it comes to choosing the overall design structure of a custom home, what are you looking for? What do you imagine? This is your vision. Your vision is the “picture” that first comes into your mind when you a vision a custom home design or even custom home exteriors. What will your home look like?
Austin, Texas House Plans Take Neighborhoods into Consideration
When planning a custom build, it’s also important to take into consideration your neighborhood. For example, you wouldn’t exactly build an English style Tudor home on a block that contains one story Texas ranch style construction. Dearth Design Construction knows the benefits and drawbacks of certain styles of homes and will custom design homes, features, additions or renovations based on need, vision, and of course, cost.
Going Rural or Urban for Your Custom Home Construction Project?
For your custom home construction project, dream, or vision, it’s also important to take into consideration the setting. What do the homes around you look like? Are you in a rural or urban setting? Local building codes give you an idea and give you freedom to choose the type of house style, square footage, or design structure that you desire, based on those city, town, or county codes. Todd Dearth, owner of Dearth Design Construction, advises customers on such topics, as many don’t even consider such limitations when it comes to custom home construction. “New homebuilders often have the vision or dream of their house in mind, but fail to take into consideration building codes, restrictions, and limitations in urban settings in regard to square footage, structural design, and appearance.”
Dearth Design Construction Knows the Importance of Location
You’ve heard it before, “location, location, location.” This isn’t just a guideline for business owners, but for custom home builders in Austin and other locations throughout Texas. Is your new home to be constructed on the top of the hill, into the side of a hill, or at the base of the hill? Are you out on the open plain, or are you building in higher elevations? Do you want a view to the west, or to the east? Such questions are among the many of that a custom home design takes into consideration, based on customer needs and desires. Whether you’re looking into luxury homes in Austin, Texas, or are merely seeking to renovate the kitchen and looking into gourmet kitchen designs, location, style, vision, location must be taken into consideration.

Bastrop Texas — The cause of a massive central Texas wildfire that killed two people and destroyed more than 1,500 homes was most likely electrical, fire officials said Tuesday.
The Texas Forest Service did not elaborate on the cause in a release announcing the end of the investigation into the wildfire that began Labor Day weekend and burned out of control for several days, ultimately blackening more than 50 square miles. Forest Service officials didn’t immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
The massive blaze forced thousands of residents to flee their homes for days in Bastrop County, about 25 miles east of Austin.
Texas is in the midst of one of its worst wildfire outbreaks in state history. A perilous mix of hot temperatures, strong winds and a historic drought spawned the Bastrop-area fire, the largest of the nearly 190 wildfires the forest service says erupted in early September.
Two other people died in an East Texas fire earlier this month, and more than 1,700 homes were destroyed across the state.
The Bastrop blaze was the most destructive in state history, and the Insurance Council of Texas estimates losses from the wildfire outbreak that started over Labor Day will reach $250 million.
