Dearth Design Construction takes a different approach when it comes to custom designs and working with homeowners. “We follow ten basic steps to creating amazing spaces,” says Todd Dearth, owner of Dearth Design Construction. “We give homeowners control over every aspect of the process, as much, or as little, as they want to be involved in.”
From design concept to preliminary plans, reviews and approval of projects, the homeowner has the final say so. “Our single source design, finance and building process eliminates a handful of problems often associated with building and construction,” says Dearth. “From concept to completion, homeowners work directly with me or my team through every phase of the construction project.” This makes building easier and less stressful for the homeowner, as they are able to keep their finger on the pulse of the project from start to finish.
“We think dreams deserve a process all their own, one that shows you exactly how we intend to make your dream home come true,” says Dearth. It’s not only this type of service, loyalty and approach to designing construction that has made Dearth Design Construction so successful in the past, but a process that will see their continued success in the future.

A New Home Built in Austin or Central Texas
Says one former happy customer, “…the first few builders we interviewed kind of scared us away from it – the cost was just too high… and then we met Todd Dearth…. he has a unique approach to designing a custom home, an approach that gave us control of how we wanted the house to look. He is a true artist and craftsman – he was able to deliver an amazingly beautiful house in a very short time frame, and the kicker was, it cost a fraction of what the other contractors wanted.”
Dearth Design Construction is an award-winning custom home designer and builder that also provides remodels of bathrooms, kitchens, living spaces, and outdoor spaces, just to name a few. At Dearth Design Construction, the building process is made as smoothly and stress-free for homeowners and builders as possible. When looking for the person to make your home building dreams come true, look to those that truly, honestly care about the product they’re delivering, and not just the bottom line or dollar amount. Todd Dearth, owner of Dearth Design Construction, takes his job, and his passion for construction, seriously. If you have a dream, he will build it.
The housing market in a number of locations throughout Texas is looking brighter for 2013. For example, Austin home Builder & Remodeling has taken an upswing, and housing market reports anticipate a positive forecast for first-time homebuyers as well as existing homebuyers hoping to put their homes on the market this year. Companies like Dearth Design & Construction are happy to hear the news, as the company, like many others in Texas, experienced a drastic decline in renovation, design, and construction jobs since the housing crash in 2008.
Austin Texas Home Building Up
Things are looking up, according to the Multiple Listing Service released by the Austin Board of Realtors for January 2013, signifying a gradual yet steady rise in sales volume for single-family homes in the Austin area, a 33% increase since January 2012.
Dearth Design Construction specializes in room additions, remodels, and entire house renovations, providing quality home-based services in Austin, Dripping Springs, Driftwood and Bastrop, Texas. The Texas construction industry has taken a big hit in recent years, but 2013 is showing some promise. According to a survey conducted by the Associated General Contractors of America, investment in construction rose approximately 7% in 2012, mostly encouraged by the private sector. Some construction firms (approximately 20%) across the United States are planning to add staff to their businesses throughout 2013.
Home Building and Construction in Austin Texas is looking Up
Even so, the news is cautious, as the majority of those new employers are planning to add fewer than 15 new staff members, while 13% are planning to add 25 or more. In 2013, 9% of firms surveyed are still bracing for more layoffs.
The bottom line is that while major construction jobs in public building construction and manufacturing continues to remain low, the number of projects that have been delayed or canceled due to the economy actually decreased in 2012. Private investors and first-time homebuyers taking advantage of lower property values, or who have purchased homes in the last couple of years, are now looking toward renovating, updating, and expanding square footage.
While the home construction market may not fully recover until 2015 or 2016, the year 2013 is certainly shaping up to be better than the past couple of years. That’s good news not only for homeowners, but for privately owned construction companies like Dearth Design and Construction, a privately owned Texas construction company with offices in Austin, South Austin and Bastrop.
“Dearth Design and Construction is a full-service custom home design, building and remodeling firm serving greater Austin and Texas Hill Country,” states Todd Dearth, owner of the company. “We specialize in functional design and construction management, whether you’re looking to add a room, custom design a home, or renovate.”

Austin Home Remodeling Return on Investment
Let’s face it: every Austin Home listing has its flaws. Rooms that show poorly, awkward transition areas, troublesome flow, disappointing curb appeal. Austin Texas Home Remodeling
Some design flaws, such as legacy appliances and dated carpeting, are easily addressed at closing without affecting the home’s selling price.
But major design flaws and structural “uglies”? Left unaddressed, they turn off buyers, extend DOM, erode the home’s market value and cost you income as the listing agent.
We at Dearth Design Construction have a better approach: Let’s eliminate those major design flaws now, before they beat up your commission. The result: a higher sales price for you and your clients.
NBC “Today Show” real estate expert Barbara Corcoran recently reminded homeowners of the significant return on investment (ROI) for home updates. A sampling, based on national averages:
New deck: cost $700; ROI $3,000
Fireplace addition: cost $1,000; ROI $3,000
Main floor laundry room: cost $1,200; ROI $4,000
Portion off garage: cost $1,500; ROI $5,000
Neutralize a kitchen: $2 return for every $1 spent.
Yes, we build beautiful custom homes. But we also specialize in strategic, budget-driven Austin Home remodels and additions that sell homes faster for more money.
We are so certain that you will realize a greater return on your time invested in troublesome listings that, for a limited time, we are offering a complimentary personal on site consultation with visionary designer/builder Todd Dearth.
Go ahead – hit us with your problem property. We’ll show you how our design and remodeling expertise can be the best resource you add to your tool kit this year.

Bastrop Texas — The cause of a massive central Texas wildfire that killed two people and destroyed more than 1,500 homes was most likely electrical, fire officials said Tuesday.
The Texas Forest Service did not elaborate on the cause in a release announcing the end of the investigation into the wildfire that began Labor Day weekend and burned out of control for several days, ultimately blackening more than 50 square miles. Forest Service officials didn’t immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
The massive blaze forced thousands of residents to flee their homes for days in Bastrop County, about 25 miles east of Austin.
Texas is in the midst of one of its worst wildfire outbreaks in state history. A perilous mix of hot temperatures, strong winds and a historic drought spawned the Bastrop-area fire, the largest of the nearly 190 wildfires the forest service says erupted in early September.
Two other people died in an East Texas fire earlier this month, and more than 1,700 homes were destroyed across the state.
The Bastrop blaze was the most destructive in state history, and the Insurance Council of Texas estimates losses from the wildfire outbreak that started over Labor Day will reach $250 million.
